Analyzing the current business environment and growth opportunities in Camden County New Jersey
Camden County NJ is a diverse part of South Jersey. There is the Adventure Aquarium with immaculate grounds and a beautiful facility, bringing families and tourists into the heart of Camden. It’s true that there are some distinctly underdeveloped areas such as Camden City, but there are also some very affluent communities and successful businesses in parts of this county. Camden City is notorious for its high crime rate, but Camden County overall has a lower crime rate than further north in Essex County. Other towns in Camden County like Cherry Hill, Collingwood, West Berlin, and Voorhees are known for their wealthy residential communities and booming business districts. Camden is right outside of Philadelphia and it’s easy to transport between the two places by car or using public transportation. For business owners in certain industries, Camden is a golden opportunity because property and taxes are low relative to many other parts of New Jersey. Healthcare and Social Assistance, Retail Trade, and Education are the most industries in Camden County NJ.

Best Examples of Camden County NJ Website Design
In addition to the most obvious features, there are many little things that make a website design great and effective. Top marks go to beautiful websites that have useful information AND are doing the types of things that make them attractive to Google, while also providing a positive user experience. Through our search, we came across some good and bad local examples of Camden County New Jersey websites. Here’s what we found:
1. Adventure Aquarium, Camden NJ – http://www.adventureaquarium.com
Numerical Score: 93/100
Design Grade……… B
Features Grade……. C
Content Grade…….. B
Authority Grade…… D
The Adventure Aquarium is arguably the best family attraction in Camden NJ. The website does a good job showing what the aquarium offers. There are events and exhibits and according to the website there are tanks totaling 2 million gallons of water! Design-wise, this is a solid site. On the homepage, there are video clips of swimming fish and aerial views of the aquarium. The navigation bar is simple, bright, and organized into drop down menus to make it easy to find what you’re looking for. There are several calls to action in the form of images with overlay text instead of using buttons, which is not a modern approach but just as effective. There aren’t many special features or tools on the site, so it’s pretty basic in functionality. Most importantly, the site is mobile friendly. From a content standpoint, this website is packed with useful and interesting text. The Blog is updated at 1-3 times a month, and the posts have a good balance of information and imagery. The posts could be longer, formatted for SEO and keyword optimized for better exposure. Search engines will crawl these pages but they won’t rank very high based on how they are right now. This business lacks authority online, partly due to this website but also because of off-site factors. For example, the Yelp page for this business is not managed well and it hurts the Adventure Aquarium’s ratings. There aren’t many backlinks helps to support this website, either. All of this impacts the authority and trust score for this website. There’s room for improvement on the digital marketing side of things and a few minor design details, but overall this is the best website we have evaluated in Camden County NJ.
2. Hi-Fi Sales, Cherry Hill NJ – http://hifisales.com/
Numerical Score: 70/100
Design Grade……… C
Features Grade…….D
Content Grade…….. B
Authority Grade…… C
The site is clean and has only a couple of very minor display errors. This company / website is demonstrating a level of quality and excellence that would make me comfortable to give them a try. Because I am a professional web designer, I instantly recognized a number of stock photos that were used in the website – which seems unnecessary to me. I am certain they could have easily acquired their own great original photos. I am not sure the average person would know these are stock, however, so I don’t know how serious this really is in this case. The information is fairly deep and their blog appears to have a new article posted roughly 2 to 3 times per month – so they are getting the job done there pretty well. There was a weak attempt to make the sub-pages a bit more interesting but they didn’t go far enough. I would recommend more photos, put information into columns more often, more bullet lists, more icons, and a whole host of ways to make the content appear more visually interesting. The more interesting something looks, the more likely the website visitor is to actually read it.
3. Cherry Hill Health and Racquet Club, Cherry Hill NJ – https://chhrc.com/
Numerical Score: 68/100
Design Grade……… C
Features Grade……. D
Content Grade…….. C
Authority Grade…… D
The website is modern and works as expected. It is clean and professional. If this was an attorney, a doctors office, or an accountant – it would have received a higher score. However, this is a health center. This is a place where kids and adults go for fitness, for health, for activity and fun. They completely missed the “energy”. The biggest shortfall is in the photos. Somewhere along the line, it appears they have forgotten rule #1 in exercise marketing. It is not about the pushups … it is about the body you get from the pushups. Taking it even further … it’s about the better life you will have because of the better body because of the pushups. They are showing empty fitness rooms, a collection of cardio equipment and an empty “Fun Zone” for kids. Where is the life? Where is the experience, the energy, and the personal connection? Big miss there. As far as the rest of the site … solidly average. Nothing wrong, nothing great. A little inspiration and talent could make this site great. As it is right now, it’s average, despite being one of the best of the websites we found in Cherry Hill NJ.
High Potential Examples of Camden County NJ Website Design
There are a lot of websites that kind of fall in the middle. They’re not good, but they could be worse. Most of these “high potential” website design examples are placed in this category because they scored low on our evaluation, but the businesses themselves are so great that we see a huge opportunity for success. Here are the local websites we found that don’t stand on their own yet, but could be absolutely killer if they made the right moves.
4. The Invictus Group, Cherry Hill NJ – http://theinvictusgroupinc.com/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade B
- This website design may be a template, but if it is- there’s enough customization to keep it from looking completely generic.
- It’s an interactive layout full of interest and clearly organized into sections. From a user experience angle, it feels like the website is responding to the visitor.
- There is some social proof but it’s could be presented in more of a compelling way on the homepage.
- It seems like there are some design issues that need to be addressed, with overlapping parts and mess up dimensions. Part of the logo is absorbed by the background on the homepage because there’s not enough white space.
5. Tech Please, Cherry Hill NJ – http://www.techplease.com/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade B
- This website is tricky to grade. The design itself is really sharp- but it looks like someone messed it up over time. In several places, the alignment of icons and text is way off. The branding however is great throughout the site.
- These guys had the right idea with their onsite blog, even including outbound links and keyword optimized content, but it looks like they abandoned the strategy a year ago. That’s a shame because content marketing is key.
- On the homepage, there’s a lot going on and it’s tough to find a call to action. It’s not clear what this business actually does, despite all of the cool icons and blurbs of info. They need to clarity to draw first time visitors in.
6. Alloy Silverstein, Cherry Hill NJ – https://alloysilverstein.com/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade C
- The pages are full of content, so there is no shortage of information here.
- Imagery is very subtle on this website, used primarily as a transparent background. They should rethink the lack of photos, especially at the top of the page where a hero image is usually placed to set the tone for the business site.
- This website doesn’t feel generic at all like so, so, so many others we see. The design is clean and consistent.
- The site loads on a mobile device, which is good, but it’s tough to use.
7. Sahara Sam’s, West Berlin NJ – https://www.saharasams.com
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade C
- Great design with bright colors and action shots of kids playing at the water park. Even the background of the site is fun and adds to the design without overwhelming it.
- Too many options in the navigation bar- should be broken into two menus instead.
- Good use of branding throughout the site, with the mascot camel appearing in different poses.
- The website has tons of information but it’s presented in an organized way. It’s easy to find prices, packages, and other trip-planning resources like hotel arrangements and directions.
8. Cherry Hill Mall, Cherry Hill NJ – https://cherryhillmall.com/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade C
- This website loads quickly, in a methodical order, which is absolutely great.
- Great for browsing on the go, this site is mobile optimized and works well.
- No outbound links, even for the stores in the directory. This site isn’t very helpful outside of offering basic information about the mall itself and onsite events.
- Where is the branding? It’s odd for a website for such a big business to be so generic. The logo doesn’t even look like a logo.
9. Diggerland, West Berlin NJ – https://www.diggerlandusa.com
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade C
- This website is very similar to the Sahara Sam’s website that we reviewed above. They likely are owned by the same people and designed using the same template.
- There are too many items in the menu. It would be better to divide this into two.
- What’s great about the Diggerland website is that it’s very cohesive from a branding standpoint. Everything from the features and elements to the photos shows kid-friendly fun involving trucks and construction work.
- The graphic map of the park is very well done, and has a key to show all of the rides and areas of the park.
- There are plenty of photos showing kids having fun on the rides at this park, but the quality could be better.
10. Professional Safety Training Services, Cherry Hill NJ – http://www.psts.com/index.htm
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade D
- Ugh, this is a terrible website to look at. Not at all helping the business. It looks very outdated and not at all focused on branding.
- We found a wealth of information through the pages of this website. The layout is pretty organized.
- These photos suck. I’m not going to sugarcoat it. The photos need to go.
- Eek, there’s sadly no mobile version of this website. That’s a big no-no.
11. Rutgers University, Camden NJ – https://business.camden.rutgers.edu
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade D
- This website design are really horrible. This site would be on the worst list if we were grading on design alone. The homepage is incredibly boring and flat, with a terrible choice of colors and absolutely no visual interest.
- There is a ton of wasted space in the margins with this old fashioned layout, and there are no clear next steps or compelling calls to action.
- Too much information is crammed into the menu. There is a better way to present information, even if there is a huge amount of it.
- There is outdated information on the Open House page, and the photos look like crap.
- Content alone is saving this website from a failing grade. There is a lot of information about the school and informative written copy. When it comes to design, features, and authority, this website absolutely sucks. They can’t expect to attract new students with a website like this.
12. Elton Bike Shop, Cherry Hill NJ – http://www.erltonbike.com/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade D
- This website design is very mediocre- it looks like a quick, homemade site using a generic template.
- There’s a cool resources page called “rides” but none of the information is current. A shame.
- What is the Call To Action? There are no “next steps” for the visitor to take.
- A professional photographer would make a world of difference here.
13. Ronald J. Cappuccio, JD, LLM, Cherry Hill NJ – http://www.taxesq.com/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade D
- This homepage is like a punch in the face. Way too much crowding and confusion in terms of the layout.
- Someone clearly took their time to write up the content for these web pages. Shows great authority
- There are no original photos here, not even a headshot of the lawyer. This website really needs some great imagery to balance out all of this content. Even a few stock photos could help.
- Some of the pages are totally blank, which is a bad look. They should remove the menu option if the page isn’t ready to display. Lots of rookie mistakes here, which brings down the professional image of the site.
14. Clementon Park and Splashworld, Clementon NJ – https://www.clementonpark.com
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade D
- The homepage is mediocre. The layout is fine but the images used at very mediocre. Also, the first message to hit you in the face is about when the park is NOT open.
- Functionality on this website is not bad. It’s a mobile friendly design and there is an updated calendar and ticket-purchasing feature.
- Content is not bad. There is a decent FAQ page but it isn’t presented as an index, so you have to scan through to find the question you’re looking for.
- This website doesn’t have a content marketing strategy. They could really use a blog and some printable resources for first time visitors.
Worst Examples of Camden County NJ Website Design
Choosing the worst websites in a town like this is painful. As a web designer in the Camden County area, I’ve seen these types of mistakes over and over that are wreaking havoc on these businesses and killing their SERP ranking. Some of these websites are so terrible that I’m assuming they came free and ready-made with a domain purchase. The mistakes are numerous and easy to avoid if you’re a web designer who know’s what you’re doing.
15. Visual Expressions, Cherry Hill NJ – http://visualexpressions.000webhostapp.com/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade F
- Another failed example of a tech-focused company. The homepage says that this site is under construction but honestly, the current version should never have been published in the first place because it looks amateurish.
- Everyone knows a mobile-friendly site is a MUST, but this one doesn’t work on a smart phone.
- This black border looks like a business card design instead of an interactive website. The fonts and colors are very childlike. Nothing about this site says professional graphic design and stationary, despite the claims.
- There is not a single impressive thing to note about this website. It needs to be wiped off the face of the earth.
16. IndeBlue, Collingswood NJ – http://www.indebluerestaurant.com/collingswood-nj
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade D
- This website design doesn’t do any favors for this restaurant. It’s not even mobile friendly, and the format is overly simplified and doesn’t make good use of the space.
- Photos are another issue. There is never a substitute for getting professional, staged photos of food. You’ll also want some photos of customers enjoying the food and maybe action shots of the chef and servers. There are only 4 photos on the Indeblue site, and none of them are appealing.
- The only impressive feature on this site is the menu, because it seems to be updated with monthly specials.
- There is an online ordering feature but it redirects you to a different website. That’s a good way to get your visitors bouncing all over the place. Not ideal.
17. William W. Harmer Realty, Cherry Hill NJ – http://www.harmerrealty.net/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade F
- Here’s another site that looks like it was launched a decade or two ago, and wasn’t bad at the time but needs to be upgraded ASAP. Very light on content, very mediocre design, no compelling imagery, no valuable resources.
- There are no outbound links, not even on the past and present clients page.
- This is one website that need major work both on the design and SEO.
- It’s not even mobile-friendly.
18. Fisher’s Appliance Repair, Cherry Hill NJ – http://fishersappliancerepair.com/service-area/appliance-repair-cherry-hill-nj/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade F
- Homepage is cluttered, overwhelming, and it doesn’t pull you in. Too many things thrown onto one page.
- Visually speaking, the design isn’t pretty either. It looks like a generic template with copy/paste info on it. Not much helpful info and not well organized.
- The video element was a good effort, but the display is all wrong. Way too small, and shouldn’t go on autoplay with the audio blasting. User experience surveys show again and again that people do not respond well to this.
19. 76ers Training Complex, Camden NJ – http://www.nba.com/sixers/trainingcomplex/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade F
- This website looks more like a placeholder or a splash page than a newly launched website. There is only one page with very surface level information.
- There is virtually no content, no call to action, no additional resources or webpages, and no visitor information.
- If this brand new training complex for the Philadelphia 76ers has any relevance to the community, it doesn’t show on this website. There is no information on events or tours or anything else useful for the average website visitor.
- The photos, infographic, and links back to the NBA website are the only valuable features here.
20. R3 Consulting, Cherry Hill NJ – http://www.r3consulting.net/
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade F
- Another tech company with a failing grade on their own website. Not good.
- This web design is archaic, and the functionality is even a problem. When you click to a page, you can’t see the menu or logo and can’t navigate back to the homepage.
- Also not mobile friendly.
- It’s hard to know whether this company is in business with such an outdated site. Nothing shows that’s it’s been updated lately and that the content is current.
21. Business Solutions Enterprises, Cherry Hill NJ – http://www.businesscostsreduction.com/HomePage.html
Camden County NJ Website Design Grade F
- This is such an old website design, proven by the ancient GoDaddy logo in the footer. It was probably self-generated fifteen years ago and never updated since.
- Awful choice of imagery.
- No clear Call To Action or next steps.
- Nothing compelling to draw a visitor in or capture their interest. It just falls flat.

Website Designers in Camden County New Jersey | |
DotCom Global Media |
DotCom has roughly 20 full-time employees and is a full-service website design and internet marketing agency. They have been in business since 1995. DotCom works with dozens of clients in Somers Point and the surrounding area. Of particular note is their national and international client list working with companies like Nike, Disney, and the New York Yankees just to name a few. They have won numerous awards and have a stellar reputation. In October 2016, the founder was honored to be selected to speak at the #1 rated small business conference in the U.S. (Forbes and Inc. Evolve Studios |
Evolve appears to be a small collection of independent contractors and service providers. It appears they’ve been in business for over 10 years and they serve mostly local clients. Their work is solid. |
JSE Design Studio |
JSE has been creating poor to mediocre websites for a painfully long time. Frankly, we are surprised they still make websites. They are mostly known for their Point-Of-Sale systems and other types of technical support -which we understand is much better than their website design. |
Townsquare Media |
Townsquare Media is well positioned thanks to their affiliation with the local radio industry. While the name is familiar with businesses in South Jersey, Townsquare Media is more infamous than famous. Their website designs are stock layouts and the SEO and digital marketing services they offer seem to lack a customized strategic approach. We have only heard bad things about this web design/marketing company. You could get the same quality for much less money with those starter packages that come cheap with a domain name purchase. |
While there is no shortage of business activity in Camden County NJ, companies actively operating in this town are lacking in the area of effective web presence. This is a missed opportunity both for businesses and for potential customers. Most Camden NJ websites are poorly designed, and worse- they’re virtually impossible to find through online search.
