Google rankings changed, Again.
It appears that Google is at it again. Have you noticed your Google ranking changed recently? Have you been closely tracking your website traffic and your Google ranking for your important target keywords? If not, you may be surprised what has happened. Some websites have reported losing 50% – 60% of their Google organic traffic overnight (March 7, 2017).
32% of our clients have been “significantly impacted” by the change.
In an article I read just this morning, a recent poll from Search Engine Roundtable found that 44.2% of sites were impacted by this update. This is serious stuff!
A Tale of 2 Cities
The recent Google update has been a huge boost for some and a huge bust for others. While I believe this update and subsequent impact was somewhat predictable (much like the looming crash of Social Security) … sometimes it’s hard to get folks to listen BEFORE something bad happens.
Example 1
Example 1 below shows a client who has been using us for SEO services for almost 2 years. As you will see below, the strong foundation we have built combined with a solid sense of where Google has been heading with their ranking algorithm updates, put this client in a position to see huge gains overnight. They literally saw a sustained jump of 125% overnight. Awesome!
Example 2
Example 2 is not nearly as happy of a story. This particular client uses us only for Social Media Marketing. Their SEO work was done a couple of years ago by another web company and they have been “coasting” ever since. Website traffic has been consistently good, so they were not concerned. Sadly, there is now panic where there has been complacency. This is a disaster for them.
What Does This Mean for You?
If your website traffic and Google rankings weathered this storm, congratulations! It may be worth a discussion to make sure you are doing what needs to be done so you survive future updates as well. Get a bit of “Google Algorithm Insurance” so to speak.
If your website traffic and Google rankings took a hit, we need to talk immediately. There are no quick fixes. Quick fixes may be what got you into this mess in the first place. However, we can fix this for you.
